Electronic Library New Brunswick - Public Libraries
Overview
The Electronic Library New Brunswick (ELNB) is the “virtual branch” of New Brunswick public libraries where you can access, browse, and borrow eBooks, audiobooks, music or video from downloadable digital collections – anytime, anywhere. Download items to read or listen to on your computer, eReader or mobile device. Borrowed items will be automatically returned after their loan period has expired. There are no late fees when you use Electronic Library New Brunswick!
Eligibility
The service is free and available for all, but you must have a New Brunswick public library card in order to borrow and download items.
Description
The Electronic Library New Brunswick is a portal to downloadable digital collections offered by the New Brunswick Public Library Service (NBPLS).
OverDrive is a primarily English-language collection of eBooks and audiobooks. You can borrow and download items using your mobile device through the free OverDrive Media Console application. You can read eBooks on your computer or eReader using Adobe Digital Editions software.
Pretnumerique.ca is a primarily French-language collection of eBooks. You can borrow and download titles onto your computer and eReader using Adobe Digital Editions software. In order to read eBooks downloaded onto a mobile device, we recommend using the free Bluefire Reader application.
The Centre for Equitable Library Access (CELA) provides access to a bilingual collection of alternate-format books and newspapers to people who have a print disability (i.e. difficulty reading print due to a visual, physical or learning disability). Alternate formats include downloadable audiobooks, e-braille and e-text. Users must have a library card and complete an additional registration form declaring that they have a print disability in order to access the service.
User guides, FAQs and help sections are available for all three applications in ELNB.
For more information, contact us by email at NBPLS-SBPNB@gnb.ca or consult with staff at your local public library.
