And if it's an engine, it will become more powerful by scaling it bigger, or weaker by scaling it smaller.

The .dmg is for installation on systems running macOS. This should wipe CKAN's download cache, settings and leave nothing except ckan.exe on your computer, which you can now delete without problems. If nothing happens, download GitHub Desktop and try again.
