List of most-downloaded Google Play applications
The list of most-downloaded Google Play applications includes most of the free apps that have been downloaded more than 500 million times and most of the paid apps that have been downloaded over one million times on unique Android devices. There are numerous Android apps that have been downloaded over one million times from the Google Playapp store and it was reported in July 2017 that there are 319 apps which have been downloaded at least 100 million times and 4,098 apps have been downloaded at least ten million times.[1] The barrier for entry on this list is set at 500 million for free apps to limit its size. Many of the applications in this list are distributed pre-installed on top-selling Android devices[2] and may be considered bloatware by some people because users did not actively choose to download them.[3] The table below shows the number of Google Play apps in each category.

10 billion+ downloads[edit]
On July 31, 2020, the Google Play services crossed the 10 billion downloads mark. It hits that total because Play Services has been pre-installed on every Android phone since 2012, and reset devices often inflate the numbers as well.
5 - 10 billion downloads[edit]
Only thirteen apps have crossed the 5 billion downloads mark.[5]Google Play Services, the main OS application for any Android phone, crossed 5 billion downloads in 2017,[6]YouTube in 2018[7] and Google Maps, Google, Gmail, Google Text-to-Speech, Google Chrome, Facebook, Android Accessibility Suite in 2019 and Google Drive, WhatsApp and Google Play Movies & TV in 2020. Eleven of these apps are owned by Google and come preinstalled.
1 – 5 billion downloads[edit]
These are the Google Play apps with over one billion downloads but less than five billion downloads on unique devices. Nearly all of these apps are owned by either Google, Facebook, Samsung or Microsoft.
500 million – 1 billion downloads[edit]
This is the list of the Google Play apps with over 500 million and less than one billion downloads on unique devices. Out of all the apps, there are only 6 games in this list, and the majority of apps in this list are pre-installed in Samsung devices, as a part of its necessary apps set such as Samsung Internet Browser, Samsung Health, Samsung Voice Recorder, Link Sharing, Samsung Email, Samsung My Files, Samsung Device Maintenance and Samsung Gallery.
